Position Overview

The Social and Emotional Well-being (SEWB) Worker will be based in Derby. The SEWB worker plays a critical role within the SEWB Division, reporting to the Senior Manager. This position focuses on providing culturally appropriate support, activities, and advocacy to enhance the social and emotional well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and communities.

The SEWB Worker will implement the four pillars of the SEWB Service Model, which include culturally secure community development, psychosocial support, targeted interventions, and supported coordinated care. This role is essential in fostering connections, delivering prevention programs, and acting as a trusted community liaison.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver culturally safe SEWB programs, activities, and workshops.
  • Provide practical support to clients, including referrals and transport assistance.
  • Facilitate access to social and emotional wellbeing groups.
  • Collaborate with GPs, nurses, and allied health staff to coordinate care for SEWB clients.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and participate in program evaluations.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of social and emotional well-being issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, along with proven experience in developing and delivering culturally appropriate SEWB activities.

  • Aboriginality as an essential criterion under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills with the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Current Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance, and C Class Driver’s Licence.
  • First Aid Certification or ability to obtain upon appointment.

Salary & Benefits

The salary for this position is $79,806 per annum pro rata, along with additional benefits that include:

  • Accommodation Allowance of $7,800 per annum pro rata
  • Annual Airfare of $1,683 (after 12 months of service).
  • salary sacrifice up to $30,000 per annum, enhancing your overall compensation package.
